SCHOTTENHAMEL FESTZELT
The Schottenhamel has 9,000 seats, taking into account the indoor seating and the Biergarten. It is here that the customary tradition “O’zapft is” is celebrated, and it is here every year that the Oktoberfest officially begins.
A special feature is the female waitress’s outfits: the classic Servierschürzen (instead of the Dirndl).
The Schottenhamel is also called the young people’s tent (Das Zelt der Jugend genannt).
The history of the tent dates back to 1867, when it was still the Schottenhamel and was just a wooden shed. It is furnished in the style of a large farm house, and Spaten is the beer served.
